Born in Nashville, Tennessee, and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Robert Carter grew up surrounded by the raw, soulful sounds that would shape him for life. Music found him early — first through a keyboard his mother placed in his hands, then through a senior-year performance that turned a forgotten lyric into a defining moment. Instead of freezing, he sang through it. The audience loved him for it. He never looked back.

After enlisting in the United States Air Force, Robert discovered that discipline and artistry weren't opposites — they were partners. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant while simultaneously developing one of the most powerful and versatile voices in military entertainment. In 2002, he earned a coveted spot in Tops in Blue, the Air Force's elite international performance ensemble, touring 23 countries and commanding audiences across languages, cultures, and continents.

Since retiring from service, Robert has built a performance career that spans intimate wedding ceremonies, corporate events, major concerts, and sold-out national arenas with equal grace. He has shared stages with Tony Terry, Howard Hewett, Alabama, and performed background vocals for legendary vocalist Gino Vannelli. His voice has also taken him to some of the biggest stages in professional and collegiate sports, including performances for the Kansas City Chiefs, the 2020 NBA Playoffs, the 2025 HBCU All-Star Game, and the 2025 NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, where he performed before 66,602 fans in the building and a CBS audience of 18.1 million viewers.
